The vibrant city of Thiruvananthapuram is gearing up for the Soorya Festival 2024, a spectacular 111-day celebration of art and culture that promises to captivate audiences from October 2, 2024, to January 21, 2025. Recognized as the world’s longest art festival, Soorya showcases an impressive lineup of music, dance, theater, film, and visual arts, with over 2,000 artists participating from across India.
The festival kicks off with a dynamic Dance and Music Festival running from October 2 to 10. Renowned performers such as Rama Vaidyanathan, Meenakshi Sreeenivasan, Priyadarshini Govind, Janaki Rangarajan, Shobana, and Asha Sharath are set to grace the stage, offering a rich tapestry of performances that reflect India’s diverse cultural heritage.
Following this, the Women’s Speech and Film Festival will take place from October 11 to 15, highlighting the voices and narratives of women in cinema and the arts. This event aims to empower and inspire, fostering a platform for dialogue and creativity.
As November arrives, the National Drama Festival will unfold from November 14 to 20, showcasing theatrical productions that capture the essence of contemporary Indian storytelling. This will be followed by the Malayalam Panorama Film Festival from November 21 to 30, celebrating the cinematic achievements of the Malayalam film industry.
In December, an Art Exhibition will run from December 1 to 20, featuring works from both established and emerging artists. Concurrently, the Indian Panorama festival from December 11 to 20 will further enrich the festival experience with a selection of diverse films and performances.
The grand finale on January 21, 2025, promises to be a highlight of the festival, featuring a stunning dance performance by the acclaimed Rachana Narayanankutty. This concluding event will celebrate the festival’s spirit and the artistic achievements of the past 111 days.
